Assessment Payment
When the City Council approves the assessment amount, the owner has 30 days from the hearing date to pay the assessment without any interest. The property owner will receive an invoice for the approved assessment amount and pays the City of South St. Paul in the Engineering Department during that 30 day period.
Certified Assessments
After 30 days, any unpaid amount is certified to Dakota County for payment through property taxes. Once this assessment is certified, all payments would be made to Dakota County. If you are trying to pay off an assessment after it has been certified, please call Dakota County at 651-554-6600 for the pay-off amount and Service Center or mailing address at which to make this payment.
