Responsibilities of the City Clerk

The City Clerk's responsibilities include:

  • Acts in support capacity to the City Charter Commission
  • Issues business, animal, and liquor licenses
  • Issues rental housing licenses
  • Maintains and updates the city code
  • Official records management
  • Oversees the operations of elections
  • Takes minutes of all City Council meetings

Data Practices

The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act gives everyone the right to look at and request copies of public data that the City of South St. Paul maintains. Records may be viewed for free or copies may be purchased. Requests for public data are made to the City Clerk.
